THE OPPORTUNITY
Zenobē is looking to hire an experienced Senior Procurement Manager, BESS Construction to help deliver its first battery energy storage (BESS) assets in the US (100MW+ in size). The role of the Senior Procurement Manager will be an integral part of the new and growing Procurement team and support in shaping its future way of working to deliver on Zenobē’s growth plans. The candidate should be comfortable supporting multiple live development projects on a multi-contracting basis, and flexible in supporting the wider business needs as required.
The primary focus of the role with be leading in the development of procurement and contract strategies, sourcing, and negotiating contracts for BESS construction services through engagement with EPCs and Balance-of-Plant (BOP) providers. This may include some procurement support on BESS & HV (circuit breakers, transformers, etc.) as required. Having a strong network of EPC and BOP providers in Zenobē’s US-NI target markets of NYISO (NY), PJM (IL, MD, NJ) and ISO-NE (MA) will be critical to delivering on the objectives of this role.
The role will work closely with the VP of Network Infrastructure - US, Business Development team, and Project Development team and report into the global Procurement team based in London.
A BIT ABOUT THE DAY TO DAY
- Lead on US BESS construction procurement activities, while being an integral part of delivering Zenobē’s first BESS projects in the US
- Directly engaging with local EPC and BOP providers in target markets to support the quoting and ultimately contracting of BESS construction services for 100MW+ energy storage projects
- Responsible for developing project procurement & contract strategies in support of highly competitive RFPs and offtake contracts
- Developing BESS construction cost estimates in early-stage and developing markets to support business case development and financial modeling
- Leading on sourcing & negotiating of supplier contracts across multiple categories of Zenobē’s BESS development projects in ISO-NE, NYISO and PJM
- Support and help lead central procurement initiatives, including reviewing and developing new processes and procedures & improving on existing ones.
- Support improvement initiatives on Zenobē’s existing contractual forms
- Support in building a culture of lessons learned being taken from the construction phase into upcoming development projects
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with new and existing contractors & internal and external stakeholders
- Support in contract management phase as required
- Reporting functionally into the Global Director of Procurement, while working closely with respective Zenobē’s Vice President of Network Infrastructure in the US as well as the Business Development and Project Development teams

YOUR EXPERIENCE
- 5 Years’ + experience in Procurement management with a focus on energy storage or renewables construction
- Strong network of EPCs and BOPs in NYISO, PJM, and ISO-NE
- Project experience on a multi-contracting basis for BESS, HV, and EPC/BOP
- Experience with various forms of contract and best practices in NYISO, PJM, and ISO-NE
- Experienced in full end-to-end procurement and contract management, including formalizing strategies, SRM, sourcing, negotiation, claims, variation and cost management
- A genuine passion for renewable energy
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams (legal, engineering, construction, finance, etc)
- Experience in developing and rolling out new procurement processes & procedures across a business
For Ilinois / NYC Compensation Description (annually):
Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
Base pay is one part of the total package that is provided to compensate and recognise employees for their work and any role at Zenobē, regardless of the location, is eligible for additional discretionary bonuses.
Base salary per annum:
USD$160,000 - USD$190,000, based on experience
