THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager (Construction) to lead the delivery of large-scale infrastructure and electrification projects in Sydney. This is a pivotal role that requires technical excellence, leadership capability, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and stakeholder engagement.
A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY
- Lead daily coordination with civil, electrical, and OEM contractors on-site to ensure smooth progress and safe execution of all works.
- Review and manage construction programs, ensuring milestones are tracked, risks mitigated, and delays addressed proactively.
- Conduct site inspections and QA/QC checks to ensure compliance with design specifications and construction standards.
- Liaise with key stakeholders including Customers, design consultants, and utility providers to ensure alignment across all interfaces.
- Work with the project controls team to maintain accurate reporting on schedule, budget, and contractor performance.
- Resolve on-site issues promptly and collaboratively, driving outcomes that keep the project moving forward.
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols, ensuring all site activities comply with WHS requirements.
- Chair toolbox talks, contractor coordination meetings, and interface reviews as needed.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and technical submittals in conjunction with the design and engineering teams.
- Report daily progress and key issues to Senior Management, providing insight and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Provide technical and delivery expertise throughout the project lifecycle – from early-stage development through to commissioning.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with contractors, consultants, and clients.
- Coordinate with Business Development and Commercial teams to align engineering inputs with sales and delivery processes.
- Support supplier and OEM engagement for equipment evaluation, specification, and procurement.
- Assist in technical due diligence and develop scopes of work to support internal governance and underwriting.
- Advise senior management on delivery strategy, risk mitigation, and program optimisation.
- Ensure consistent application of standards, protocols, and project controls across multiple sites and stakeholders.

Essential Competencies:
- Fluency in English to business-level is mandatory
- Lead and manage all phases of construction delivery across civil, electrical, and infrastructure scopes.
- Oversee contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure performance against scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive seamless project execution.
- Proactively manage risk, compliance, and safety across all construction activities.
- Ensure reporting, forecasting, and project governance are maintained to the highest standard.
- Strong grasp of project management principles, surveying, estimating, and scope definition.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary contractors (electrical, civil, etc.) and ensure safe, quality-driven, cost-effective delivery.
- Ability to interpret and review electrical schematics, site plans, and engineering drawings.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, both on-site and in client-facing environments.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to link technical delivery with broader business objectives.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
- Flexible working approach – capable of working across day and night shifts if required, and managing change in a dynamic site environment.
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness, particularly within the context of Australian Standards, WHS regulations, and EPC delivery models.
- Ability to manage construction programs, track progress, forecast risks, and maintain delivery momentum across multiple work fronts.
- Understanding of utility coordination, including grid connections, metering, and trenching/conduit planning.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 8+ years of experience delivering complex construction or infrastructure projects, ideally in transport, energy, or related sectors.
- Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage large-scale contractor interfaces.
- Strong knowledge of Australian construction standards, HSEQ systems, and contract administration (ideally under AS forms).
- A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills.
- Background in construction or with an M&E contractor.
- Familiarity with NEC or similar contract forms and Australian regulatory frameworks.
- Strong technical understanding of both civil and electrical scopes, including trenching, ducting, foundations, switchboards, and EV charging systems.
- Proven track record managing multi-disciplinary construction teams and subcontractors in live or brownfield environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australian construction standards, WHS legislation, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead site meetings, coordinate with stakeholders, and produce clear reports.
- Skilled in project scheduling and progress tracking using tools such as MS Project or Primavera (P6), and experience working within structured PMO environments.
- Proactive and solutions-focused, with the ability to stay calm under pressure and keep delivery on track.
