We’re building and operating the world’s most sophisticated battery systems to enable the uptake of more renewable power and accelerating fleet electrification, de-risking the transition to zero-emission transport at scale. We’ve been consistently innovative since we were founded in 2017, achieving major industry firsts and using proprietary software and data analysis to optimise operational performance for our customers. At the end of their life, we repurpose electric vehicle batteries to provide clean power at depots, on construction sites and film sets.
Today we have 730 MW of grid scale battery storage operational and under construction and are the largest owner and operator of EV buses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, supporting over 1,000 electric vehicles worldwide. In our first five years we have raised nearly £1.8 billion in funding and have expanded into other markets such as the US. THE OPPORTUNITY
As we expand in North America, we are looking for an experienced professional from the industry to serve as Zenobē’s Bid Manager, leading formal bid and tender processes on behalf of Zenobē in North America. This role in imperative to maximizing Zenobē’s commercial value proposition to fleet customers. The Bid Manager will support expansion and growth of Zenobē’s turnkey electrification offering across new verticals and customers by driving formal tender responses and managing internal (and external) stakeholders. You will be responsible for identifying, developing, and winning bids in concert with our commercial teams. This role requires heavy collaboration cross-functionally throughout the organization with the primary objective to support business development efforts and opportunities. It is essential that you are experienced in managing numerous stakeholders (internal and external), that you welcome collaboration and building (teams, processes, etc.), and that you are comfortable representing a growing organization at a high level. As the Bid Manager, you will manage the end-to-end project and response for bids, targeting both the private and public sectors
This is a unique opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial environment, building a new business in a fast-growing and rapidly-evolving sector (“start-up within a start-up”). At the same time, you will have the support from a company with over 275 team members that has a wide range of contracting, financing, procurement and operational experience gained to date from over 2,000 contracted e-buses worldwide. A BIT ABOUT THE DAY TO DAY
- Manage the creation of winning tenders through full bid lifecycle from ‘Bid/No-Bid’ through to customer negotiation and contract award
- Lead the virtual bid team, drawn from across the business and including technical, financial and business development support, to ensure each bid draws on the appropriate resources at the right time to enable successful tender delivery.
- Communicate and plan with functional support areas within Zenobe to ensure overall team performance is optimized and issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
- Own the bid resource planning to ensure capacity is aligned to demand, business resource requirements are forecasted and agreed in advance of the tender process
- Writing and/or coordinating the writing of bid content, ensuring it meets the quality required for a successful bid`
- Engage in pre and post bid submission negotiations with the client encompassing technical, financial, legal and commercial considerations, and act as an escalation point of contact in relation to bids.
- Management of bid portals, enrollment on frameworks and the go/no-go decision
- Research into RFx and tender patterns as needed to support commercial strategy and business development efforts

YOUR EXPERIENCE
Essential Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Proven experience within government and/or corporate sector large-scale tenders/RFx efforts
- Significant experience within a Bids & Tenders capacity. Ideally within Transport, Energy or Engineering sectors
- Proven track record of managing the full life-cycle of bid management from tender identification, evaluation, through to delivery, negotiation and post contract closing/ handover.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple SME/ workstreams ensuring delivery of high-quality tenders
- Management/ Supervisory level experience with ability to work with remote teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Pragmatic, proactive and solution driven
- Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects at once
- High level attention to detail
Desirable but non-essential skills:
- Preferred candidates will have 5+ years of experience in a formal procurement or tendering capacity
- Broad understanding of fleet electrification [e.g. charge management, utilities, EVSE, OEMs, grants, etc.]
- Experience in passenger transportation, preferably in school bus, municipal, or commercial sectors
- Experience in energy storage, renewables, and/or EV infrastructure
- Background and experience in contracts, finance and pricing, proposals is preferred
- Experience with bid portals—either private or public (e.g. GovWins, etc.)
For Ilinois / NYC Compensation Description (annually):
Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
Base pay is one part of the total package that is provided to compensate and recognise employees for their work and any role at Zenobē, regardless of the location, is eligible for additional discretionary bonuses.
Base salary per annum: USD$130,000 - USD$150,000
