Our goal is to make clean power accessible, to accelerate the shift to zero carbon power and transport.
We’re building and operating the world’s most sophisticated battery systems to enable the uptake of more renewable power and accelerating fleet electrification, de-risking the transition to zero-emission transport at scale. We’ve been consistently innovative since we were founded in 2017, achieving major industry firsts and using proprietary software and data analysis to optimise operational performance for our customers. At the end of their life, we repurpose electric vehicle batteries to provide clean power at depots, on construction sites and film sets.
Today we have 730 MW of grid scale battery storage operational and under construction and are the largest owner and operator of EV buses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, supporting over 1,000 electric vehicles worldwide. In our first five years we have raised nearly £1.8 billion in funding and have expanded into other markets such as the US. THE OPPORTUNITY
Following Zenobe’s rapid growth story, an exciting opportunity has arisen in Zenobe’s Finance team. With global expansion and rapid growth in revenue, Zenobe is looking to make it’s first dedicated tax hire.
The successful candidate will report into the Group Financial Controller and will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all aspects of tax compliance across our global operations. This is a hands on position, with plenty of scope to gain exposure to the entire finance operation. You will also assist with business administration for Zenobe's overseas start-ups, supporting the setup and ongoing operations of our international entities

The role offers significant exposure to global tax issues and strategic business decision-making. A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY
· Alongside dedicated external advisors and local finance teams, oversee and manage all aspects of tax compliance across the international Zenobe group, ensuring timely and accurate filing of tax returns (Corporation Tax, Company Tax, VAT, GST, employee taxes, etc.) in all jurisdictions.
· Lead on tax for sales opportunities and M&A projects, utilising tax due diligence, tax structuring and tax modelling skills and experience to shape strategy and provide guidance to the wider business.
· Setting a tax governance policy and framework for the business to ensure tax risks are identified and appropriately managed, particularly in readiness for entering the senior accounting officer (“SAO”) regime.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international tax regulations and ensure compliance with local tax laws in each region where Zenobe operates. Coordinate and liaise with external tax advisors, auditors, and consultants to ensure compliance and optimize tax positions.
· Prepare and manage tax reporting for internal and external stakeholders, including working with the Group reporting Team to ensure tax provisions and disclosures for financial statements are accurate
· Lead or assist with various accounting projects that have an impact on tax, including transfer pricing, intercompany loan management and documentation, cash repatriation and review of statutory financial information. Develop and implement tax policies and procedures to ensure management and minimise tax risks. Support Group FC/CFO with strategic tax planning, M&A activities and other business developments.
· Contribute to the development and implementation of tax-efficient structures, with a focus on business expansion into new markets. Working closely with our legal team, ensure other local business administration requirements are met as we continue to expand our operations into new jurisdictions across the globe.
· Be ready, willing and able to pitch in and support the CFO and FC’s as a senior finance professional, in developing and upskilling the team, and ensuring the finance function is fit for purpose as we scale and grow as a business.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

· Qualified accountant is a must (ACA, ACCA, CIMA). Relevant Tax qualification desirable (CTA).
· At least 5+ years in a tax role, ideally qualifying in practice with international exposure, but with proven experience of managing UK tax requirements. We are not necessarily looking for a specialist in a certain tax, just someone who is able to get stuck in, ask the right questions and ensure the right advisors can assist.
· Self-starter, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with others to get the job done and ability to interpret complex tax issues to a general, non-specialist audience.
· Ability to adapt to a fast paced and ever changing environment
· Ability to work autonomously and take initiative, especially in a growing and fast paced environment.
· Excellent attention to detail
· Strong user of Microsoft office packages – Excel / Word / Powerpoint.
