Technical Project Manager 12 month FTC
We are looking for someone with proven experience in project management to lead the roll out of telematics systems across retrofit and new vehicle installations.

THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a technically adept and delivery-focused Technical Project Manager to lead the roll out of telematics systems across retrofit and new vehicle installations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful deployment of hardware and software solutions across our customer base, working closely with OEMs, retrofitters, operators, and internal stakeholders.
This position is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract and can be performed remotely from home.
A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY
- Project Delivery: Own the end-to-end implementation of telematics projects, from planning (stock and vehicle availability), site readiness to installation, importing into the Zenobe portal once fitted and testing to go-live.
- Technical Oversight: Provide hands-on technical support during installations, including software configuration (site readiness), troubleshooting across multiple systems, and integration with vehicle systems.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with external customers i.e. bus operators, OEMs, fitment partners, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution and alignment with project timelines. Supplier onboarding where needed, with the ability to identify geographical areas. Be able to manage fitment partners proactively with clear roll out plans for capacity building.
- Site Readiness & Surveys: Coordinate site requirements and readiness assessments to ensure infrastructure and vehicle compatibility, including RAMs and Health & Safety requirements are met
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including installation guides, risk registers, and live progress reports to all stakeholders (internal and external)
- Continuous Improvement: Create and manage all support cases for any telematics units that require investigation for maintenance/service calls. Capture lessons learned and contribute to the refinement of implementation processes and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in project management within the transport, automotive, or telematics sectors.
- Strong technical understanding of vehicle systems, CAN bus, telematics hardware, and data integration.
- Familiarity with the UK bus industry, including operational practices, vehicle types, and depot environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and organizational skills
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) is desirable but not essential.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with EVs and charging infrastructure.
- Knowledge of data platforms, APIs, and cloud-based telematics solutions.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a strong delivery mindset.
- Relationship and People management skills
- Ability to work independently, with the ability to use initiative and make decisions independently to keep projects on track.
